Intergalactic

The Rose Theatre

What a nightmare… The song was dreadful, the mood was dreadful and there was no motivation whatsoever to deal with that intergalactic problem. The papers were scattered on the desk. “Intergalactic”, he said. “That is absolutely ridiculous.” His staff nodded, all except that annoying busybody temp secretary who was always correcting everyone’s grammar mistakes. “I… I think the group will have some impact actually. They sing well and…” Everyone turned to her. “Do you think they sing?” he asked in a sarcastic tone. The secretary smiled and nodded affirmatively. “You do?!” She nodded again with a bit more enthusiasm. “Intergalactic? Really?” The staff looked back and forth between the two of them. “Oh, get the hell out of here! Get out of my sight! I don’t even know why I didn’t fire you earlier, I am sick of your miss-goodie-two-shoes look, I cannot stand it, and it gets on my nerves!” The secretary smiled again, walked towards the door, turned around and said “You’ll see.” She became the group’s manager, found them a publisher, and earned millions. She lives in the poshiest side of town, drives a Ferrari and still corrects everyone’s grammar mistakes. Oh, and she now owns the record company. Her former boss is currently looking for a job. Perhaps he should broaden his options by going… intergalactic.

  1. Well now, with the dash being on the subject of "Intergalactic" I wasn't expecting this.

    Nicely done...as always :)

Decca Records rejected the band in early February with the comment, "Guitar groups are on the way out, Mr. Epstein"!!! Unfortunately it happens more than we realize. Epstein was the manager and our group was called The Beatles!! Love your writing Mrs.Gudkov thanks for your gifts, and by the way, I DO love your tie!!

    1. Thank you, George! You're right, it does happens a lot, but destiny or... whoever/whatever takes things into its own hands and fame happens! :) At least for the Beatles! I am not that sure what happened to the group who inspired my segment!
