She waited and waited
for them. Time dragged itself slowly as she checked her watch over and over
again. There was no phone call, no message, no email. She tried calling them,
but the exasperating female voice, saying the number was not reachable at the
moment, kept adding to the frustration. Her husband, her daughters and her son.
It never crossed her mind to turn on the TV. There was a knock at the door. The
neighbor. Check the TV… and call the airline company… and have they called… and
have you heard any news… and a blur of questions threw her into this limbo of
unconsciousness. Gone, they were gone…
