Hanging out

Venexia

It all started quite innocently. She was hanging out with a few cool people in Venice. The Carnival pageant was about to start strolling through the streets and the plaza was decorated with beautiful lanterns and Carnival masks. Now, the problems started when one of the cool guys decided to become not so cool by saying something as unexpected as “would you like to hang out with us?” She didn’t entirely understand the question, especially because she was already hanging out with them. All the cool people laughed and giggled in unison while the passers-by walked away sensing trouble ahead. In a blink of an eye, the cool guys picked her up and carried her around while all the cool girls laughed even harder. All of a sudden one of them spotted something and said “there, there” eagerly. She tried to figure out what they were talking about. And she did, as soon as they… hung her from a hook in the middle of the plaza. Fun, fun, fun, but all of them left, nudging one another with a look of complicity in their eyes. So, what happened to the hang out “with us”? Hanging out with them was one thing, hanging out alone was a completely different thing and she didn’t like it a bit, especially because the Carnival masks on the poles were now sneering and mocking her…It was going to be a long night.
