Strike, Team and Alpha

Fae Varriale's "Wonderland" 2012

“Not good,” Strike said peaking through the window.
Team nodded.
“What are you talking about?!” Alpha was angry.
“You go first, Strike.”
“First?!”
“Yes, explain what we mean,” replied Team.
“Ah!” said Strike with a sigh of relief.
“This is a covert operation. What’s the problem?” asked Alpha annoyed.
Strike and Team looked anxious.
“Let’s go,” commanded Alpha.
Suddenly there was a loud noise, a shot.
 “Uh-oh…” said Strike.
Team nodded.
“See, I told him. His wife wouldn’t like the surprise.  This Strike Team Alpha anniversary gift was a bad idea. Too kinky…”
Strike nodded.
“Coffee?”
“And cream,” replied Team.

Strike Team Alpha

Haunted

After years of attacks, the authorities called in the big guns. They were tough, they were dangerous. They were the reason children played in the streets now and women walked home from work late at night. Thieves, drug dealers, murderers and serial killers didn’t stand a chance. Tenacious and all geared up, they would roam the streets hunting predators down.  Their motto was KISS. KISS them and KISS them again. They were Kimberly, Ivy, Suzy and Samantha, the Strike Team Alpha of the neighborhood. “Can I have an ice-cream, Granny?” asked 5 year old Peter. “No,” replied KISS in unison.

Opine

Siden

“Ladies and Gentlemen, this year’s anniversary will be slightly different. His Royal Highness has decided that instead of giving away vegetables and meat so you can feed your families during these times of need, you will hear him sing.”
The crowd growled in discontent.
“Unbelievable.”
“Unacceptable.”
“Ridiculous.”
The emissary raised her hands.
“Please, please… Let’s not…” she said trying to control the fury building up.
Suddenly, she was interrupted by a woman who stood right in front of her. When the woman spoke, everyone quieted down.
“It seems to be a good idea, considering…” she started.
People looked at one another incredulously. The emissary gleamed.
“The only problem is that he won’t be able to sing.”
“Why not?” asked the emissary frowning.
The old woman pointed at the horizon where they could see four horsemen drawing near.
“They are coming.”
The emissary ran into the castle. The crowd scattered in all directions, locking their doors.
“We don’t need vegetables now, do we?”
And the woman started to sing.

Mother

Kowloon

A mother at the window.
A cat and her child.

“One, two, three, peak-a-boo!
One, two, three, throw a shoe!”

“Hide-and-seek, I am right behind you!
Forty-forty, you have no clue!”

And she smiles.

Vice

The Dark Side by Anley Piers
“She always talks to sea-horses,” they would mumble behind her back.”What a seedy obsession”.
“Shameful,” said others. “Frightful creatures.”
A long time had passed since she started looking at those hated creatures with a certain amount of curiosity. Sea-horses were evil, neither earthly nor heavenly. Sea-horses didn’t walk, they floated. Sea-horses were black and gray.  Sea-horses were considered to have all the worst possible features imagined and she simply could not understand why. When she talked to them for the first time, they even smiled an unheard thing in sea-horses.
Everyone stopped addressing her. Everyone looked away as she walked by. She became an outcast, an outcast but among the sea-horses.
One day, she woke up and, much to her amazement, she was floating.
“Soon, you’ll see the world as we do,” the sea-horses said.
“How?”
“Full of wonderful colors.”

Promulgated

Wonderlands by Fae Varriale for LEA

“Look, there it is.”
She looked but she couldn’t see. The horizon was quiet. It concealed the solution, the decision, the time.
“Shh,” it murmured low.
“Where?”
“Shh…”
“There.”
“Shhhh…”
The difficult decision had been taken and the crowds were waiting. Release, proclaim, pronounce, promulgate.
And the horizon hid away with a soft rustle of leaves.
“This is bad,” she said.
“Yes.”
Slowly, from behind the heavy mantle of thick clouds, it emerged.
“It’s there,” she said.
He nodded.
“Now, let’s see if they agree.”
She knew the crowd would not stand for it. The horizon would die at the hands of Man.

Haven

The Epic Toy Factory

Lost souls, impossible dreams,
Veiled voices and fallen fears,
Hidden pains of broken hearts,
This is the haven for forsaken tears.
